In the Bay of Bothnia, there is up to 60 cm thick fast ice in the northern archipelagos followed by new ice and 10-20cm thick, partly rafted, very close ice. In the southern Bay of Bothnia, there is up to 30 cm thick fast ice or level ice along the coast, and further out there is new ice and up to 20cm thick close ice. In the Quark, there is 10 – 30 cm thick level ice or fast ice in bays and in the archipelago and very open ice further out. In the Bothnian Sea, there is level ice and new ice along the coast. In the Gulf of Finland, there is 10-30cm thick fast ice in the easternmost part and very close and new ice slightly further west. Elsewhere along the coast is mostly level ice or new ice. In the northeastern Gulf of Riga there is up to 25cm thick ice in sheltered areas and new ice outside the coast. Else in the Baltic region, there is new ice in sheltered places along the coast as well as very close ice, thicker than 15 cm in the Boddenwaters around Rügen and the lagoons in the south and southeast.
